About the Department

The Department of Mathematical Sciences, IIT (BHU), Varanasi, earlier known as Applied Mathematics, IT, BHU has been functioning since 1968, caters to the needs of the undergraduate as well as post graduate students of the Institute and the five year integrated M. Tech course in Mathematics and Computing of the department. The Department has an encouraging record in research work and guidance with more than 190 Ph.D.s and over 1500 research publications in the journals of national and international repute. Currently the research areas of the department include Analysis, Fuzzy Set Theory, Soft Set Theory, Fuzzy Topology, Soft Computing, Rings and Modules, Mathematical Modelling, Fractional Calculus, Dynamical System, Elasticity, Wavelets, Shock Waves and Fluid Dynamics.
